High quality food can cost $200 or more per month. When puppies are growing they consume triple the amount a full sized adult dog will eat. The cost of routine vet care has to be considered, as well as the possibility of emergency vet care.

Bloodhounds, like most deep chested breeds are susceptible to Bloat and Gastric Torsion. It is a recommendation by most breeders, including myself, that Bloodhounds undergo a preventative Gastropexy when they are neutered or spayed at 2 years of age.
